Crysis 2 - Intro Cinematic
To get players into the mood for the game, we created a fulminant introduction to the Nanosuit v2 and to showcase the game's key gameplay concept of "Veni Vidi Vici" - "I came, I saw, I conquered"
"Veni Vidi Vici"
To showcase the extraordinary actions the Nanosuit v2 is capable of, we went with a gameplay-oriented narrative:
Prophet scans the area from a vantage point high up in a broken skyscraper and detects a CELL presence of multiple guards and an APC. When a CELL helicopter spots Prophet, a cat and mouse chase ensues. Prophet uses his mega-jump ability, stealth, armor and power modes and ultimately destroys the helicopter with the APC's mounted cannon he had scanned earlier.
Pretty much all shots, including macro-closeups of the suit were staged and rendered in CryENGINE3 and in stereoscopic 3d. Bits that show blood vessels inside of Prophet's body were done at Glassworks Amsterdam.
I was Cinematic Artist/DOP for two thirds of all shots, did lighting and rendering and directed the intro sequence as a whole.
A special music track for the intro was composed by Hans Zimmer at Remote Control, Los Angeles.
